I just finished reading Jenny McCarthy's book "Baby Laughs". Now if you are a male, you are probably thinking "Jenny can read and write?" and if you are a woman you may be thinking "who cares what that ho has to say"?
I know both crossed my mind at some point. But, nonetheless, given that it was a freebie book, I gave it a shot.
I have to say, this book pleasantly surprised me. I should warn you, it's not for the faint of heart and if don't want to hear her talking about "blowing out your vagina" then stay away, but I must say it was very well written, brutally honest and it gave me the feeling of "hey, I thought that too!".
Jenny, like myself, didn't have one of those beautiful wonderful labors you see on "A Baby Story". After full blown dialation, hours of pushing and use of "tools" to get her baby out, she had to endure a c-section. She talks about the secret pacts you make with God, complications that do occur and even the reality of when you actually get to see your baby. It took them five hours to get her baby into her arms. With me it was more like 14 (I didn't see her until the next day). It was a traumatic experience for me, and it's somewhat comforting to know that others have had that separation anxiety.
She goes on to talk about lots of "did you know" moments such as "shitting up the back" and the trauma that you go thru when trying to cut the babies nails! The pain of your milk coming in was a favorite, "I'm talking give-me-another-c-section-over-this-kind-of-pain pain." and zucchini boob syndrome, which happens after breastfeeding to some women.
Other honest moments include noticing that she hadn't shaved her legs or arm pits in weeks, and I personally cracked up her assessment of her "cottage cheese butt".
From no sex to competitive mommies, she covers it all in a quick, easy read that will have you laughing out loud if you are a mom.
